Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Project Engineer Intern to support engineering, technical support, and project execution activities across the nano and Trident compressed air and gas treatment portfolios.

The intern will actively contribute to solution design, product technical documentation, testing, installation support, and engineering analyses across technologies such as compressed air and gas dryers, filtration systems, nitrogen and oxygen generators, breathing air purification systems, condensate management, aftercoolers, and process chillers used widely across general industrial applications including metal cutting, textile, oil & gas and food and beverage sectors, among others.

This internship suits students interested in engineering, product systems, technical problem‑solving, and hands‑on experience within a global industrial technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Support

  • Assist in the engineering evaluation of compressed air and gas treatment products such as desiccant/refrigerated dryers, filtration systems, condensate management solutions, and gas generators.
  • Support troubleshooting activities by analyzing system behavior, reviewing installation setup, and collaborating with the Technical Support Manager to resolve customer issues.
  • Participate in reviewing equipment configurations and ensuring recommended solutions align with application requirements across industries.

Project Execution & Testing

  • Assist in planning, monitoring, and executing small engineering projects involving system evaluations, quality checks, and functional testing.
  • Support integration and validation activities for dryers, filters, nitrogen/oxygen generators, and aftercooler systems.
  • Help prepare test reports, validation summaries, and documentation needed for internal approval.

Technical Documentation

  • Develop or update installation manuals, troubleshooting guides, engineering drawings, and reference documents for nano and Trident products.
  • Maintain structured documentation to train and supporting internal teams, customers, and external partners.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Management, Quality, and Service teams to relay technical insights and support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in technical discussions related to system improvement, product enhancements, and customer application challenges.

Customer‑Facing Engineering Support

  • Assist in evaluating customer system data to determine appropriate product sizing or configuration.
  • Prepare engineering summaries, layout recommendations, and technical clarifications for the Technical Support Manager to review.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong foundation in engineering principles, ideally mechanical, industrial, electrical, or related discipline.
  • Ability to understand technologies such as compressed air filtration, dryers, gas generation, and condensate management, which are central to nano and Trident product portfolios.
  • Comfortable with basic engineering analysis, problem‑solving, and hands‑on testing activities.

Communication & Documentation

  • Clear technical writing skills for creating engineering documentation and instructions.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings effectively across teams.

Behavioral Expectations

The intern should embody Atlas Copco Group’s values and behaviors which establishes expectations on culture, ethics, collaboration, and accountability:

  • Interaction: Engage openly, share knowledge, and collaborate respectfully.
  • Commitment: Take ownership of tasks and follow through reliably.
  • Innovation: Be curious, propose improvements, and think creatively.
  • Integrity: Demonstrate ethical conduct and responsible decision‑making.
  • Customer Focus: Understand that engineering support directly contributes to customer value.
  • Sustainability: Keep efficiency and environmental responsibility in mind when analyzing solutions.

Recommended Academic Background:
➡️ Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering — these provide the strongest foundation for understanding technologies used by both nano and Trident, including compressed air dryers, filtration systems, nitrogen/oxygen generators, and condensate management solutions. Despite that fact, other disciplines of the Engineering are also welcomed.

What You Will Gain

  • Real‑world engineering experience with advanced compressed air and gas technologies.
  • Exposure to technical support, system diagnostics, product testing, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience working with global teams and participating in continuous improvement activities.
  • A strong foundation for future roles in Engineering, Technical Support, Applications Engineering, or Project Engineering.
  • Internship Duration Expectation
  • We are specifically seeking an intern who can support our team throughout the year, not only during the summer. This includes part‑time availability during academic semesters and expanded involvement during breaks. Ongoing participation ensures deeper learning, meaningful contribution to long‑term engineering initiatives, and continuity in supporting the Technical Support Manager and cross‑functional teams.
