Job Description

The Cato College of Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is pleased to invite applications for the Director of the Mebane Early Literacy Center (MELC). This 11-month EHRA non-faculty position will begin July 1, 2024. The center comprises three pillars: teacher development, community partnerships, and research and innovation.
The Director of the Mebane Early Literacy Center will support the overarching goals of MELC: A) prepare Mebane Early Literacy Scholars in all settings, including urban, rural, and other high-needs areas, B) advance the fields of early literacy and teacher preparation, C) serve as North Carolina’s early literacy hub for networking, providing technical assistance and professional development to the community. In alignment with North Carolina’s goals for early literacy, the Director will work with school, district, and state-level leaders in university/school partnerships. The Director will lead a community of early literacy champions to share effective, evidence-based literacy practices for teacher candidates across the state and nation.
The Director will be responsible for the overall administration of the Mebane Early Literacy Center, the supervision of all staff, graduate students/Mebane scholars, and all community outreach activities and relevant initiatives. UNC Charlotte
