About the Internship

Join our team and gain hands-on experience with major interior design and architectural design/build projects. As an intern, you'll apply your drafting and surveying skills in real project environments. You'll attend meetings, participate in site surveys, and work directly with project managers. The role also includes helping select and finalize furniture finishes, materials, and orders. This is a valuable opportunity to grow your technical abilities and contribute to impactful, large-scale initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members from concept design through construction administration

  • Help prepare project presentations, meeting notes and cost estimates

  • Participate in client meetings and site visits alongside project team members

  • Coordinate with other disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g. vendors, clients and contractors)

  • Will work on a variety of assignments, likely on more than one project simultaneously

  • Assist with creation of surveys/questionnaires as needed

  • This job may require site visits in New York and New Jersey

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship

  • Major in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management or related discipline

Desired Qualifications

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative team

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Interest in InteriorDesign, space planning, and project/ construction management.

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026

  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026

  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

  • In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
