WNCSource is a non-profit organization with multiple child care centers providing services to Early Head Start, Head Start, and NC Pre-K (preschool) children across four counties in beautiful western North Carolina: Henderson, Polk, Rutherford, and Transylvania. What will you need?
Minimum: An associate’s degree in related field or high school diploma/GED is required with a minimum of a credential or certification in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or a related field. If minimum education requirements are not met upon hire, a certificate/credential must be attained within eighteen months of hire.
Preferred: Baccalaureate degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or related field.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluent in reading, writing, and speech.
Two years of case management or early childhood classroom experience. Early Head Start/Head Start experience preferred.
What will your day look like?
The Bilingual Family Advocate works in collaboration with center staff and community partners to ensure children and families receive comprehensive services.
This is a Full -Time non exempt 12 month position.
Teacher responsibilities include:
- Plan, schedule and conduct quarterly Family Engagement activities collaborating with teaching staff and families.
- Assist in the processing of enrollment, transfer, and termination paperwork of Early Head Start, Head Start, and Child Care Partnership center children.
- Assist in the recruitment and enrollment of Early Head Start and Child Care Partnership children throughout the year.
- Assist and empower families to locate resources and schedule appointments with community resources that best meet their needs.
- Monitor children’s attendance and provide support services to the teacher and families as needed.
- Actively engage in team collaboration meetings.
- Enhance job growth through training and education.
- Use a strength-based approach to empower the family, support systems and resources.
