Job Description
Are you interested in a paid internship working for an area non-profit agency this summer? The SECU Public Fellows program is for you! The State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Foundation has provided funding for interns to work with area non-profit organizations through the coordination of the University Career Center. This internship will take place over 10 weeks this summer (May 30-August 5), working 40 hours per week with a local organization. There you will gain valuable experience, while providing additional personnel support to that organization assisting the mission and giving back to the community.
Each applicant will be screened by the University Career Center and then will participate in a virtual interview event with organizations. Sites for internships include: Carolina Youth Coalition, Humane Society, International House, American Red Cross, Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce, SHARE Charlotte, Communities in Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Hire Heroes, The Males Place, and the Ability Experience. More information about potential sites will be distributed to applicants after the application period closes and during the interview process.
Eligibility:
Participating students must be a North Carolina resident, and classified as an undergraduate student throughout the entirety of the internship program. Participating students must be able to complete their internship within the program year (prior to September). Student interns may not be a director, employee, or family member of an employee or director of the State Employees’ Credit Union or SECU Foundation.
For the purpose of this internship program and a student’s relation to a director, or employee, family member includes spouse, parents, siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spouses of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of an employee or director of SECU or the SECU Foundation.
