McColl Center is an acclaimed artist residency and contemporary art space in Charlotte, North Carolina. We believe art thrives when artists do. McColl Center's internship program offers direct experience working at Charlotte’s first and longest-running artist residency program and contemporary art space. If you are a college-age student interested in learning more about how artist residencies operate or are considering a career in art, visual arts, art education, art administration, or museum studies we encourage you to apply.

Job Description

  • Work interdepartmentally with McColl Center Staff with daily tasks and long-term projects based on skills and interests. This could include:
    • Working with the marketing department to create + edit content and design flyers or posters for events.
    • Assisting with art handling and installation.
    • Helping the programs department set up, prepare, and facilitate workshops and other programs.
    • Assisting the Philanthropy Officer with donor related projects such as managing databases, planning events, and writing newsletters.
  • Work alongside Artists in Residence and Studio Artists on works and/or projects. 


 Qualifications

  • Interest in a career in the arts, marketing, philanthropy, or non-profit management.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner.
  • Maintain trust and professionalism within the organization.
  • Ability to take initiative and an excitement to learn new skills and tasks.
  • Commitment to working 8-10 hrs per week in office for the length of the internship.
