Organization Profile
The Diabetes Family Connection (DFC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization founded in 2018 with a mission to positively
transform life with diabetes through the power of community. We
offer year-round, recreation-based programs designed to build
confidence, promote a positive mental attitude, and foster a
strong sense of community for people living with type 1 diabetes
(T1D) and their families. DFC is committed to creating meaningful
connections and a supportive environment where individuals and
families can thrive, overcoming the unique challenges of T1D.
Project Overview
DFC is seeking a motivated, creative, and positive team player to
develop, create, and manage our 2025 spring social media
campaign. This project aims to increase awareness of DFC’s
mission, grow a more diverse follower base, and drive
engagement in our programs. The selected candidate will have
the opportunity to contribute valuable content that highlights the
impact of DFC’s work, promotes program registration, and
strengthens our community. Content must align with the DFC’s
mission and branding guidelines.
Project Scope
The Spring Social Media Campaign will run from March 1 through
June 15, 2025, with a focus on publishing at least seven posts per
month on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The campaign
content will include:
- Videos, stories, reels, and posts promoting DFC events and
community connections
- Visual assets for upcoming events, tailored for social media
platforms
- Content featuring volunteer stories, collected and edited as
part of the campaign
The student will work alongside DFC volunteers to gather stories
and create compelling content. All content will be reviewed and
scheduled according to the following deadlines:
February 20: Content due for March and April
February 24: March & April scheduling complete
April 1: Content due for May and June
April 4: May & June scheduling complete
Preferred Candidate Demographic and Qualifications
This project is ideal for a student with experience in content
creation, social media scheduling, and strong writing and
grammar skills. Familiarity with diabetes or nonprofit work is a
plus.
Required qualifications include:
Social media content creation and scheduling experience
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Experience with Canva, Meta, and LinkedIn, with access to
DFC’s social media tools
Hours Required
This remote role requires approximately 40 hours in total. Work
can be scheduled flexibly to accommodate academic
commitments, but project deadlines must be met.
Learning Experience
By participating in this project, the student will:
- Gain hands-on experience in nonprofit social media
management
- Develop skills in brand cohesion and storytelling
- Hone volunteer management skills, including collaboration
and content editing
- Interact with nonprofit board members, enhancing leadership
and networking abilities
- Strengthen campaign development skills and track
engagement outcomes
Expected Outcomes
The successful completion of this campaign will:
Increase community engagement on DFC’s social media
platforms
Boost click rates and retention of current followers
Raise awareness of DFC’s mission, resulting in new
registrations and donor engagement
Provide quantifiable results on the campaign’s impact on
DFC’s goals
