Job Description

UREC is accepting applications for the Spring 2024 semester for the following in the program area of Open Recreation:

Patron Service Assistant

  • UNC Charlotte University Recreation is seeking individuals for the position of Patron Services Assistant (PSA). This individual will be the first point of contact at the UREC facility and will be responsible for access control, equipment checkout, maintaining equipment and providing high standards of customer service. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing at UNC Charlotte
Previous customer service experience preferred
Ability to work effectively with others
Willing to work morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours as scheduled
Willing to work at least 12-15 hours per week as scheduled. 
Able to lift up to 50 lbs

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet all patrons as they enter the fitness floors and provide quality customer service
  • Answer phone calls, provide accurate information and/or assistance directing the questions and inquiries to the appropriate person
  • Screen potential guests for eligibility as per guest pass policies
  • Maintain efficient laundry services and perform other duties as assigned at the front desk
  • Perform shift specific-cleaning duties on the fitness floors in regards to preventative maintenance on fitness equipment
  • Assist with re-filling wipes into canisters on the fitness floor for proper wipe down of equipment after use
  • To represent the University Recreation department in a professional manner at all times
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all University Recreation programs, policies, and procedures
  • Be able to activate the Emergency Action Plan
  • Assist with equipment setups and teardowns for programs and special events=
  • Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned
  • Attend all staff training and meetings
  • Ensure quality cleanliness and minimized risk factors on the fitness floors
  • Enforce UREC policies and procedures

(UREC) must be in good academic and conduct standing with the University at the time of hire
and must remain in good standing throughout the course of their UREC employment.
Violations of any federal, state, or local laws and/or any University or departmental policies
may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination from a UREC student staff
position. Additionally, student staff placed on disciplinary probation or poor University standing
by the University’s student accountability or academic integrity process may be terminated
from a student staff position at the discretion of the UREC Director based on the individual
circumstance.
University Recreation defines good academic standing as having and maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Student staff involved in matters that may impact their Good Conduct Standing with the
University have a duty to self-report that they are involved with the Student Accountability
Office to their appropriate professional staff member.
