Job Description
The Office of Disability Services is currently seeking a Graduate Program Assistant in Text Conversion to join its team. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the production of alternative text for students with print disabilities.

Key Requirements:
Self-Starter and Training: The successful candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who is capable of utilizing a provided training manual to master necessary tasks with minimal supervision and oversight.

Alternative Text Coordination: Coordinating the end-to-end process of alternative text production.

Exam Administration: Providing essential assistance with final exam administration. This includes onsite proctoring of exams and the text conversion of exam materials.

Essential Skills Include:

Organizational and Time Management Skills: The ability to manage a demanding workload is crucial, requiring strong organizational skills to manage numerous text conversion requests from multiple students and publishers, complemented by effective time management skills.
Technical Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate strong skills in key software tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Google Docs. Proficiency in Excel is specifically required for logging and managing all conversion requests.
Creative Problem-Solving: The role requires the ability to think creatively. This includes ability to create tactile graphics to accurately represent visual materials for students. Training and supervision will be provided in this specialized area.
Collaboration and Communication: Success in this role depends on the ability to work collaboratively with teammates, supported by strong communication skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Communication & Management: Effectively manage email correspondence and communicate professionally with Disability Services staff, students, faculty, and publishers regarding alternative text assignments.

Security & Compliance: Handle all materials—including copyrighted materials, faculty-created content, and tests—professionally and securely.

Maintain Manual and Address Text Conversion Forms: Maintain and update the official text conversion manual as necessary. Ensure that the Google Request form is effective and working correctly; gather information from the form to address requests.

Training & Mentorship: Once proficient, the Assistant will train other student staff on conversion duties as needed.

Exam Period Availability: Mandatory availability to work during the final exam period is required for onsite proctoring.

Other Duties as assigned.

Schedule and Technical Requirements:
Hours: The position requires 15-20 hours per week, depending on the student's employment status, with the typical workload being approximately 20 hours per week (sometimes less).

Technical Access: The candidate must have reliable Internet access and a PC (Personal Computer).
