STW: Graduate Program Assistant: Disability Svcs Note Taking
UNC Charlotte Office of Disability Services
Student Temp Wage
Closes on Monday, February 3, 2025
Job Description
The Office of Disability Services seeks a Master’s level program assistant to manage the note-taking program. Note Taking services support students with disabilities. Disability Services has recently implemented a technology-based note taking system, so it's an exciting time. Must be comfortable being a self-starter, using manuals and training videos to learn the position, with support from our team.
Additionally, this position provides assistance with support to test proctoring primarily during finals and assistance with general office functions as needed. Note-taking and testing services are academic accommodations which provide access for students with disabilities. The position is for 20 hours per week and is an on-campus position. Note that this position is typically for a full academic year, and so if it is a good fit the position could extend beyond Spring 2025.
Position is *not* remote.
Under the supervision of permanent staff, the Graduate Program Assistant:
• Oversees note-taking processes including: managing licenses for note taking software; initiates the search for note-takers; manages note-taking data; monitors and responds to incoming emails; monitors incoming class notes; creates and sends note-taker certificates; provides note-taker orientation and training which is done via Google Meet or Zoom; and corresponds with faculty, students, and note-takers to help ensure timely, effective services.
• Supports testing services as needed, and the availability to proctor final exams is required: participates in final exam training, proctors exams; readies completed exams for return to the office; and performs other final exam duties as required.
• May assist occasionally with campus outreach events, including outreach events outside standard business hours.
• Provide ongoing training and guidance to volunteer note takers, including virtual workshops.
• Assist with cleaning protocols in keeping a clean and orderly workspace, scanning room, and general office suite.
• Uses MS Office Suite (particularly Excel), Google apps, and data management systems to manage workload. Uses various platforms for virtual meetings, such as Google Meet or Zoom.
• Training will be provided. Able to use a training manual to trouble-shoot work. Able to work independently and with supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.
