STW: Life-cycle/BIM Engineering Intern

Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Asset Management and the BIM Manager the candidate will work alongside Engineering and Maintenance Operations teams to increase the reliability and performance of the University’s assets, to include equipment, buildings, and data assets. We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn Facilities Engineering and Asset Lifecycle Management while assisting various Facilities Management departments. You will be working closely with our team to conduct research, capture data, and develop 3D models. On occasion you may be asked to attend meetings where you will be asked to take minutes. 

• Job Duties

• Support asset management processes (Planning, procurement/Acquisition, Operation and Maintenance, and Disposal/Archive) by leveraging Revit models and BIM data to inform decision-making, with an emphasis on integrating BIM data across the Asset Lifecycle.
• Provide support in creating spreadsheets (pivot tables) to document asset life cycles conditions, cost and performance metrics. 
• Draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation related to asset lifecycle workflows, BIM integration and Revit modeling practices.
• Help define key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify lifecycle deficiencies, and possible final disposition policies, utilizing BIM model data insights for analysis.
• Assist in revising equipment and file naming conventions, as well as tagging procedures, ensuring alignment with BIM standards and Revit family parameters and BIM standards.
• Obtain asset-related data from multiple sources, including direct extraction from Revit models and linked databases.
• Research and present emerging BIM and digital twin technologies to bridge the gap between technology and facility operations.
• Contribute to training materials and best practice guidelines for Revit model use in facilities management.

• A knowledge of BIM and/or GIS is required
• Qualifications:
  • Revit Proficiency strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit (Architectural and/or MEP) is required.
  • Ability to update existing Revit models to reflect current conditions and data standards.
  • Develop accurate Revit models of existing buildings using PDF or CAD files.
  • Familiarity with BIM concepts and their application in asset and facility management is preferred.
  • Ability to learn basic engineering principles relevant to building systems.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (including Excel), particularly for data manipulation and reporting of BIM-derived information.
  • Willingness to learn new standards and guidelines for writing technical documentation, including BIM execution plans and data specifications.
