Job Description
The College of Engineering Student Ambassador Program is a leadership opportunity that allows UNC Charlotte students to represent and promote the W. S. Lee College of Engineering to prospective students, families, and K–12 students across the region.
Student Ambassadors participate in both recruitment and outreach programming, including leading college tours, supporting admissions events, teaching hands-on STEM lessons, and engaging with schools and community partners. Participants will interact regularly with prospective students, families, and K–12 students through on- and off-campus programming.
This posting is for SUMMER employment only. Opportunities to extend to becoming an ambassador during the school year are possible at the end of summer employment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead campus and College of Engineering tours for prospective students and guests
- Deliver and facilitate pre-developed STEM lessons and activities (e.g., robotics, engineering challenges) to K–12 students
- Support outreach programming, including field trips, competitions, and school visits (on and off campus)
- Engage with diverse populations and provide insight on becoming a successful college student and pursuing engineering pathways
- Participate in student panels, Q&A sessions, and demonstrations as needed
- Develop and maintain knowledge of College of Engineering programs and UNC Charlotte resources
- Conduct follow-up outreach (e.g., postcards or communications) to prospective students
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, appearance, and reliability
- Attend meetings and required training sessions
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current College of Engineering student
- Enrolled in Summer 2026 and/or Fall 2026 classes
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups and engaging with a variety of audiences
- Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline, and enthusiasm
- Preference given to students in engineering, STEM disciplines, or education-related fields
- Preference for candidates with experience in teaching, mentoring, customer service, or public speaking
