Job Description

The Associate Director, Online Student Success is a seasoned, student-focused leader dedicated to enhancing the student experience. This position plays a critical role in advancing student success by serving as the primary academic advisor for students in the Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (PROS) program, while also supervising a team of program and student support specialists who serve both Charlotte Online and noncredit learners. The Associate Director will collaborate with key campus partners, including the Office of Undergraduate Education, University College, Enrollment Management, Student Assistance and Support Services, academic advising leaders, and academic departments to support academic progression, lead early intervention strategies for at-risk students, and contribute to online student success and re-engagement initiatives. In partnership with Enrollment Management, the Associate Director will also support outreach to students who are eligible but not currently enrolled. Occasional evening advising will be required during peak advising periods to better serve post-traditional learners. This Associate Director is a collaborative leader with experience in academic advising, student success initiatives, team supervision, and cross-campus engagement.

  • Provide primary academic advising and manage care network for students in the BS in Professional Studies program and model best practices for adult online learners.
  • Supervise program and student support specialists serving Charlotte Online and noncredit learners.
  • Lead institution-wide coordination of proactive student success strategies—strengthening early-alert processes, aligning care plans, supporting retention and persistence initiatives, and guiding outreach to at-risk, disengaged, or “eligible but not enrolled” students in partnership with existing departments.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Undergraduate Education, University College, Enrollment Management, Student Assistance and Support Services, and academic departments to enhance online student pathways, onboarding, and progression.
  • Conduct data-informed segmentation and targeted communication strategies to address the unique needs of online and post-traditional learners.
  • Offer occasional evening advising during peak periods to support working adult learners.
