The Internship
The Assistant will observe and maintain field stations deployed for the Redlair Observatory in Gastonia, regularly download data, troubleshoot sensors and dataloggers on site, and maintain and organize the databases for the Observatory. He/she may also conduct soils and sediment lab analyses, data entry, and other jobs related to soils and geomorphology research
Learning Experience
Student will get hands on experience with research grade field and lab data collection and/or analyses, including Monitoring weather equipment maintenance and operation. Database maintenance and organization. Soil laboratory analyses.
Outcomes
Conduct monthly checks and maintenance of equipment and download on site. Communicate any issues. Work efficiently and accurately on database management. Work efficiently, accurately and independently in a lab and in the field.
