R&D Co-Op - Spring 2025

The Role:

Our site in Bedford is seeking a/an R&D Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.

• Entegris’ Specialty Coatings Division is developing unique thin film coating and surface Engineering solutions that serve as protective and functional surfaces for various semiconductor equipment applications, primarily as protective layers in corrosive environments. One specific area of interest is the development of thin-film inorganic fluoride materials that can be deposited conformally on complex three-dimensional objects.

• Fundamental fluoride growth studies are being performed to understand the envelop

In this role you will:

• Conduct a series of design of experiments to explore a complex set of multi-factor experimental test matrices that include various input materials and synthesis conditions to define suitable envelop conditions for material growth.

• Utilize various metrology and thin film characterization techniques to evaluate test samples, such as:

• Imaging: Optical, Scanning Electron Microscopy

• Materials properties: Thickness, hardness, modulus, adhesion

• Composition: EDS, FTIR

• Surface analysis: Morphology, roughness, hydrophobicity, etc.

• Other analytical techniques using outside laboratories.

• Use statistical methods to define the test conditions and to analyze the test results.

• Summarize findings and provide summary report / presentation to the technical team with interpretation of the results and recommendations for future development

You're a good fit if you have:

•Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Interest in experimental research and development

• Sense of curiosity, imagination, and ingenuity

• Knowledge in thin film coatings technologies, thin film characterization techniques and/or microelectronics industry

• Good communications skills

• Strong problem-solving skills

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

• Knowledge of semiconductor process and semi-equipment

• Mechanical and electrical background

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of Six Sigma principles such as DOE, FMEA, MSA, SPC and use of Minitab.

Desired Major: Material Science, Chem. Eng., Chemistry, Physics, Mech. Eng.
