Texas Health Action is seeking a Health Information Systems Specialist who will provide technical expertise in the administration, maintenance, and optimization for our health information systems. This role involves managing electronic health records (EHRs), administering user accounts, ensuring interoperability of clinical applications, troubleshooting issues, optimizing system performance, and collaborating with clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care. The specialist will also support data reporting for both clinical and operational needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health information systems, excellent problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data security and compliance.
This is a full-time, exempt position. Remote work is allowed, but the incumbent must reside in the state of Texas and will be required to attend meetings and perform certain portions of its duties on-site at our administrative headquarters in Austin, Texas. Core Functions:

Serve as the primary point of contact for users on health information systems. Provide technical assistance to resolve application issues, minimize downtime, and respond to service requests efficiently.

Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with vendors as needed.

Maintain and optimize applications, including EHRs and related applications.

Administer user accounts for applications, including creating, modifying, and deactivating accounts.

Establish strong application practices adhering to best practices and regulatory standards, such as utilizing access controls, encrypting data, and conducting regular vulnerability checks

Extract and analyze data for reporting purposes.

Work alongside clinical staff to enhance application utilization.

Conduct regular audits of user access to ensure compliance with HIPAA and security protocols.

Ensure the integrity and proper configuration of applications while maintaining effectiveness and usability.
Compensation:
Based on job duties and requirements, this position is placed in pay grade 45 with a full-time, annual salary range of $68,000.00-$83,000.00. The actual salary will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Requirements
Required

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Healthcare, or related field.

Minimum one year of experience providing technical support for clinical applications.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. ?

Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications and health information technologies

In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations, coding standards (ICD, CPT, etc.), and healthcare privacy practices.

Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI).

Preferred:
-
Three or more years of experience providing technical support for clinical applications.

Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI).

Experience with project management or process improvement initiatives.
-
RHIA or RHIT certification.

Experience with LGBTQIA+ and/or other marginalized communities a strong plus.

Experience in delivering in-person and virtual training sessions using engaging and interactive methods.
