Position Description

  • Provides basic engineering assistance, under direct supervision, to monitor and improve the performance of equipment at a gas-fired generating station.
  • Duties include support of Operations and Maintenance departments to ensure proper operation of combustion & steam turbines, HRSGs, environmental controls, and station utilities.
  • Develops a more detailed understanding of generating station equipment, systems, and operations.
  • Directs or participates in execution of small-scale capital projects.
  • Works to support environmental compliance and process improvement efforts.

    Essential Job Tasks:
  • Provide engineering assistance for safe, reliable, and economic operation of generating units.
  • Support compliance with all environmental requirements relating to water, air, and waste. Compile NPDES outfall data to prepare monthly discharge monitoring reports for approval by appropriate level of management.
  • Verify that all assigned environmental management information system (EMIS) tasks are completed on time. Maintain related physical and electronic records in accordance with the corporate retention schedule.
  • Assist with providing occasional capital or construction engineering services related to station equipment and processes.
  • Attend and assist in generating unit start-up, shut-down, and other significant station events occurring at various time periods and for extended durations on an as needed basis.
  • Participate in required training provided by Santee Cooper Learning & Development (in-person and remote). Pursue optional training opportunities to develop professional and technical skills. Attend occasional seminars, conventions, and workshops as directed by supervision.
  • Support Generation and Corporate Goals Programs, with an emphasis on safety. Complete all mandatory training.

Engineer III

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Chemical from an EAC/ABET accredited school +5 years experience.
  • EIT/FE required.
  • Must acquire a South Carolina physical/chemical wastewater level "D" license within 15 months of employment date.
  • Required to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above and below grade and accommodate overtime.

    Compensation Information:
    $91,990 - $114,990 (min.-mid.)

    Engineer II
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Chemical from an EAC/ABET accredited school +2 years experience.
  • EIT/FE preferred.
  • Must acquire a South Carolina physical/chemical wastewater level "D" license within 15 months of employment date.
  • Required to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above and below grade and accommodate overtime.

    Compensation Information:
    $82,520 - $103,140 (min.-mid.)

    Engineer I
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Chemical from an EAC/ABET accredited school.
  • EIT/FE preferred.
  • Must acquire a South Carolina physical/chemical wastewater level "D" license within 15 months of employment date.
  • Required to enter confined spaces, work at elevations above and below grade and accommodate overtime.

    Compensation Information:
    $74,010 - $92,500 (min.-mid.)
