Job Description

Position Overview:

This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in educational enrichment programming while supporting the Enrichment Manager. You will play a key role in assisting with program planning, logistics, and outreach for educational nonprofit initiatives focused on the arts, civic engagement, social action, and STEM education. The Enrichment Assistant Intern is a vital role to the development of signature program events for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Enrichment Assistant Intern should be experienced in working with groups of children, responsible, energetic, possess the ability to think on their feet, be a good leader and a strong role model.

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in planning and organizing enrichment activities, events, and workshops.
  • Support the development of program materials and resources.
  • Help coordinate communications with volunteers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and compile data related to educational programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with tracking program outcomes.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Enrichment Manager.
  • Attend occasional in-office meetings and support in-office events when needed.

 

Key Projects:

  • Develop digital resources and handouts to support summer enrichment activities.
  • Create enrichment kits including sourcing materials, purchasing, and packing materials.
  • Produce video tutorials and how-to guides for training purposes.
  • Design classroom decoration materials and templates.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Education:

  • Passion for educational programming, social action, or the arts.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or similar tools.
  • At least 18 years old, enrolled in college and completed at least 1 year of undergraduate studies.
  • Experience in education, community service, or nonprofits is a plus.
