Pre-K Afterschool Teacher (Part-Time)

Position Overview

We are hiring a dependable, enthusiastic part-time Afterschool Teacher to lead our 4- and 5-year-old Pre-K students during afternoon wraparound hours. No prior classroom experience is necessary. This role is built for UNC Charlotte students enrolled in education programs who want paid, hands-on experience in early childhood education, as well as licensed teachers seeking consistent afternoon work. Full paid training on facility routines, safety standards, and classroom management is provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise Pre-K students ages 4 to 5 during afternoon care, ensuring continuous sight-and-sound supervision and safety.

• Support the daily transition from the academic school day into afternoon centers, quiet rest, snack time, and outdoor recreation.

• Facilitate hands-on enrichment activities, including story-time, music and movement, sensory exploration, and small-group fine motor tasks.

• Encourage foundational social-emotional skills such as sharing, problem-solving, self-help routines, and peer communication.

• Maintain a clean, sanitized classroom environment in accordance with NC childcare sanitation guidelines.

• Greet families warmly and conduct professional daily check-outs with parents during pickup.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college degree program (Education, Child and Family Development, or a related field) or holds a current teaching license.

• Genuine passion for working with preschool-age children and supporting their developmental milestones.

• Ability to complete an NC DCDEE criminal background check and fingerprint clearance prior to your start date.

• Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to complete training within 30 days of hiring.

• Reliable transportation to our facility at 6025 Clarke Creek Pkwy in Charlotte, NC 28269.
