Job Description

The Team

We are seeking a Structural Engineering Co-Op to join our Engineering team at American Tower. In this role, you’ll participate in a multi-rotational program, gaining hands-on experience with advanced structural analysis software tools. You’ll also receive theoretical training from licensed professionals, civil engineers, and structural engineers. The rotations include core structural engineering with an analysis focus, core structural engineering with an operational focus, and A&E/site design. From performing structural analyses of cell phone towers, to designing civil sites, including roads and stormwater systems, you’ll tackle real-world challenges and contribute to the company’s success.

This hybrid Co-Op position spans from January 2025 through June 2025. Upon successfully completing your first rotation, you’ll be eligible for consideration in future Co-Op opportunities with American Tower. Co-Op rotations are generally offered three times a year: Fall, Spring, and Summer.

What You Can Offer Us 

  • Work within existing processes to correctly open analyses projects.
  • Perform structural analyses and generate corresponding reports.
  • Confirm accuracy of modification drawings.
  • Answer various structure-related inquiries from internal and external sources.
  • Perform civil site analyses and generate road, grading, and stormwater designs.
  • Support the generation of construction drawings showing antenna equipment placement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed 

  • Current enrollment in a 4–5-year college Engineering degree program required, with a civil and/or structural engineering focus preferred.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Interest in a three-rotation co-op program.
  • Proficient with computer software programs, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
