[Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician [The City of Morganton is seeking a team-oriented, organized, and technically-savvy individual to join the Team. [Duties and responsibilities include: ]{arial",sans-serif"=""}]{arial",sans-serif"=""}]{arial",sans-serif"=""}

• Develops and maintains GIS system databases by collecting, verifying, and entering data;
• Maintains and operates GIS software and database applications.
• Responds to requests for maps and other related information.
• Creates reports and documentation based on GIS data.

This position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to supporting others in their information needs. Desired qualifications include: Associates or Bachelors degree in geography, planning, geospatial studies, computer science or related field involving significant GIS coursework. Some experience with GIS software and/or related GIS database application development either in an academic or professional environment; combinations of real-world experience and formal education preferred. Possession of a valid NC Drivers License and a good driving record is required.

Salary range is $46,021 - $69,031; starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
