UIP: Digital Scholarship & Publishing Assistant

The Internship
The Digital Scholarship team supports research and publishing on campus by offering services for publishing open access journals, e-books, and conference proceedings as well as maintaining the university’s repository of scholarly works, Niner Commons. This UPIP position will help support the university's new Open Access Policy to facilitate posting open access research in UNC Charlotte's repository of scholarly works, Niner Commons. This position will also help with making research accessible per the new WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.

Learning Experience
This job will help develop your data cleaning, research, and web publishing skills, as well as give you experience with various software applications (OpenRefine, TIND) and web content accessibility standards.

Outcomes
Run data pulls on Web of Science to identify open access research not yet in Niner Commons. Support data cleaning and data remediation for Niner Commons. Ingest items into Niner Commons, to include single item deposits and batch ingest projects. Register new users wishing to submit manuscripts to journals published by Atkins Library.
