Job Description
Position Title: After-School Assistant - Exercise Science/Kinesiology Program
Location: Harding High School
Duration: 22 Weeks
Schedule: 3-4 Days per Week (Afternoons)
Overview:
BFIT Big Dreams Youth Inc. seeks a passionate and energetic individual to serve as an After-School Assistant for our exercise science and kinesiology program at Harding High School. The program focuses on promoting fitness, health, and personal growth among middle school youth. This role offers an opportunity to inspire and challenge students while maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with organizing and supervising exercise science and kinesiology activities.
- Lead youth through structured physical fitness programs, including strength, flexibility, and agility training.
- Monitor students’ engagement during programming to ensure safety, proper technique, and sustained motivation.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants during fitness sessions.
- Follow organizational and school policies regarding risk management and emergency response.
- Provide support for youth with special needs or medical conditions, such as asthma.
- Support occasional college field trips to introduce students to higher education opportunities.
- Foster self-efficacy and personal growth by encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones through activities like hiking, swimming, or teamwork challenges.
- Build positive relationships with students to increase confidence and teamwork.
- Collaborate with program facilitators, school staff, and parents to align activities with program goals.
- Attend program staff meetings to review progress and address student needs.
- Assist with attendance tracking and reporting.
- Participate in pre-program training sessions and periodic check-ins with the Program Director.
Qualifications:
- Background in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field (college students encouraged to apply).
- Experience working with youth, especially in underserved communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead group activities while maintaining safety and engagement.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Compensation:
