Junior Estimator Intern

We are looking for a Junior Estimator Intern interested in gaining exposure to the estimating and preconstruction side of civil construction. This internship is designed to provide a behind-the-scenes look at how civil construction projects are reviewed, priced, and prepared for bid, while working alongside experienced estimators. Interns will also gain insight into how projects are tracked once construction begins.

What You’ll Be Exposed To

During the internship, you will work with our estimating team and gain insight into how projects move from plans to construction. Interns will have the opportunity to observe and assist with tasks such as:

• Reviewing civil plan sets and understanding how construction drawings are interpreted
• Observing how estimators perform quantity takeoffs for utilities, grading, and site work
• Learning how materials such as pipe, stone, and excavation quantities are calculated
• Seeing how subcontractor and supplier quotes are gathered and organized
• Participating in internal discussions and bid preparation
• Becoming familiar with software and tools used in the estimating process
• Assisting with tracking quantities and progress of work completed in the field
• Gaining exposure to how contractors monitor production and compare estimated quantities to actual work completed

This role is intended to provide hands-on exposure to both the preconstruction process and how projects are tracked once construction is underway, giving interns a broader understanding of how estimates translate to real-world production.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Strong attention to detail and interest in construction
• Willingness to learn and ask questions
• Basic familiarity with Excel and computer software
• Interest in civil construction, utilities, or site development

Preferred (Not Required)

• Exposure to construction drawings or site plans
• Experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or other takeoff software
