Job Summary

The Process Engineer Intern will support key operational and improvement initiatives under the mentorship of the Chief Operating Officer and the Process Engineer. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in manufacturing process optimization, data analysis, and lean practices. The intern will assist in executing impactful projects and gain insight into real-world engineering challenges while contributing to the company’s efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement goals.

Essential Job Duties

  • Support the execution and management of the Company’s OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvement efforts.
  • Analyze production data to identify downtime trends and assise with performance improvements.
  • Audit operator huddles in Redzone to evaluate communication and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in or lead Kaizen, 5S, or Lean Manufacturing projects focused on waste reduction and process flow.
  • Assist with updating and creating SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and visual aids.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations Leadership.
  • Help identify inefficiencies in workflow, layout, or communication, and suggest practical solutions.
  • Present findings, results, and recommendations to Senior Leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Take ownership of special projects related to efficiency, quality, or cost-saving goals as assigned or proposed.
  • Perform administrative and documentation tasks as needed to support project tracking and execution.
  • Adheres to company Policy and Procedures.

  • Consistently reports to work on time, prepared to perform duties of position.
  • May perform other duties as required.

 

Scope of Responsibility 

  • This job will have periodic access to confidential data including company records, plans, designs, and programs.
  • This job develops plans and implements new procedures and methods to achieve company goals.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Language Skills: Able to read and understand safety rules, operating procedures and written instructions. Able to write clear, concise reports and communicate effectively with peers and supervisors. Will have the chance to share project findings with small groups, including leadership, with support from the team.
  • Math Skills: Comfortable using basic math concepts such as percentages, area, and volume. Has a foundation in algebra or geometry that can be applied to process or production-related work.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Thinks through practical challenges and can work through problems even when there’s not a step-by-step guide. Open to asking questions and learning by doing.
  • Technical Skills: Familiar with Microsoft Office Tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Exposure to AutoCAD or other CAD software is a plus but not required.

Education and Experience

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Manufacturing or related field.
  • Prior internship, project, or hands-on coursework in manufacturing, lean, or process optimization preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
