Job Description

Gain hands-on marketing, advertising, and PR experience in a fun museum setting! Assist in development and implementation of marketing tactics targeting a defined audience across a variety of platforms and channels. Our marketing interns get creative through working on projects for several museum locations, creating professional connections, and expanding their portfolios through marketing campaigns and promotions. Projects often include media coverage of events, creating and distributing print and digital marketing collateral, and elements of graphic design. Brush up on your writing and design skills through content creation for social media, identifying and creating content for trends, sharpening your photography eye, and learning or expanding your videography skills.

Learning:

Experience the world of marketing and learn new skills as you explore history, nature, and imagination.  You will gain marketing and business experience in a professional setting, learn social media management and best practices on how to engage with others as a brand or business, how to market across platforms and channels, and experience interacting with the public and across all levels of staff.

Expectations:

This internship provides a variety of experiences in a fun setting! It can be fast paced but we are here to provide you with the best possible internship experience! Show up on time, do your work, ask questions, and adhere to guidelines, rules, and deadlines. Be respectful of fellow workers, the public and guests. We offer a flexible schedule and networking opportunities, but you will need to communicate your school schedule and any potential conflicts as well as consistently communicate with your Museum Internship Supervisor. Some travel between museum locations and some Saturday events may be required.

Qualifications:

Please send portfolio samples when you apply. General marketing principles knowledge, writing and proofreading skills, ability to create interesting and compelling content visually and through writing, attention to detail, and basic understanding of graphic design, photography and video editing is a plus. Open to Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communication, Mass Communication, Business, and Graphic Design students or related fields.
