Job Description
Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Land Acquisition and Development division within the Construction Operations team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in land portfolio analysis, zoning research, and due diligence processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting desktop analysis of recently acquired land parcels in Gaston County and surrounding areas.
- Research zoning regulations, Unified Development Ordinances (UDOs), and other relevant planning documents to gather data on land holdings.
- Utilize GIS software to analyze spatial data and create informative maps.
- Correspond with planning officials from local municipalities to clarify information related to land parcels.
- Accompany staff on site visits to gain practical insights into land evaluation.
- Collect and organize data to support staff in decision-making regarding land retention and disposal.
- Depending on technical skills, assist in enhancing the affiliate’s data resources using ESRI ArcGIS.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS) is preferred; willingness to learn is essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in land development, urban planning, and environmental issues.
