Graduate Student Employee
Position Overview
The Levine Scholars Program, UNC Charlotte’s premier merit scholarship, is seeking a graduate student employee to support communications, recruitment, and event planning efforts. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Recruitment and Operations and assists with the development and implementation of special programming, recruitment events, social media promotion, and provides additional support for administrative tasks, as well as other program initiatives and events as needed. This position begins in August 2026 and continues through May 2027. The graduate student employee will work 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
Primary Areas of Responsibility
This is an administrative position, working directly under the Associate Director of the Levine Scholars Program. This position offers hands-on experience in scholarship program administration, strategic communications, recruitment, event management, and higher education leadership. The graduate student employee will be responsible for a variety of activities, including but not limited to the following:
- Assist with communications to high school counselors and prospective scholars.
- Coordinate content creation and maintenance of social media accounts and other digital communications.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of recruitment and promotional materials.
- Manage internal communications to scholars and program staff, including weekly updates and announcements.
- Support scholars in developing content for newsletters, publications, and correspondence.
- Assist with planning an executing campus-wide events sponsored by the Levine Scholars Program through the 2026-2027 academic year, including Finalist Weekend.
- Assist in the development and implementation of program assessment, especially as it relates to recruitment.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in marketing, communications, recruitment, or student affairs. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
- Desire to assist with promoting and encouraging high-achieving students to apply for the Levine scholarship and attend UNC Charlotte.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to coordinate and create social media content (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) and other creative projects in collaboration with the Associate Director, Alumni Communications Specialist, vendors, and scholars.
- Experience with or interest in event planning.
- Ability to assist in the development and implementation of both qualitative and quantitative program analysis and assessment.
- Demonstrate skills in office operations, including proficiency in Google Workspace (Documents, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Calendar), MS Office (Word, Excel), Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Participate in the full two-day Finalist Program in February, assist monthly Whole Group meetings on Monday nights, and attend weekly staff meetings.
- Experience with or willingness to learn CRM systems and recruitment databases (e.g., Slate) is preferred.
- Desired candidates in graduate programs of Communication Studies; School Counseling; Educational Leadership or related humanities or social science programs.
