Job Description

The Role: To ensure maximum uptime of equipment to meet production requirements by creating schedules and planning of manpower. To lead their team toward continuous improvement of equipment and production efficiency with safety first and high quality production in mind . To ensure the proper level of accountability for safety, cleanliness, team building, and development of each associate in the Maintenance department

  • Direct maintenance team members and maintain a physical presence while ensuring the enforcement of GKN environmental health, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Complete all necessary HR training, timekeeping, and personnel record keeping.
  • Lead and assist in problem solving in diagnosis of malfunctions with effective and complete dis-assembly and re-assembly of equipment.
  • Lead shift pass down meeting between maintenance supervisors.
  • Verify that tradesmen are documenting and communicating down equipment transfer from shift to shift.
  • Be the single point of contact for maintenance issues and downtime communication during the assigned shift.
  • Develop schedules and assign daily responsibilities of the maintenance staff.
  • Identify and locate spare parts from tool crib inventory or through machine manual, and contact through the OEM.  Ordering of necessary part, filling out iValua requisitions, determining stock and inventory requirements.
  • Conduct daily shift start up and safety tool box meeting to ensure safe and efficient maintenance operations.
  • Audit the overall quality of workorder data and CMMS process. Ensure trades are completing closing and tracking part usage with the correct level of detail in work orders and PM’s completed.
  • Manage daily maintenance log of down equipment, equipment waiting on parts, and any non critical issues during assigned shift.
  • Self direct priorities based upon needs and inputs of the plant as a whole.  Make critical decisions for equipment based on priorities or feedback from trades, operations, quality or supply chain.
  • Ensure communication and proper working relationship with operations group lead and team lead.
  • Use proper escalation and standard process of the GKN maintenance systems.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Mechanically Inclined
  • A thinker, problem solver, and leader.
  • Familiar with maintenance CMMS software and processes. Capable in standard PC based software like Microsoft office.
  • Disciplines in SAE autocross / Mini Baja / Super mileage car / or the EE rocket challenge, for example.
