Job Description
As a strategic leader and expert practitioner, the Senior Instructional Designer collaborates with faculty, academic departments, instructional designers/technologists, and campus partners to create high-quality, scalable learning experiences. The role provides project leadership, cross-unit coordination, and instructional design expertise to support curriculum innovation, evidence-based teaching, and the expansion of online and hybrid learning.
This position requires advanced skill in instructional design, learning science, and faculty development, as well as a proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders. The Senior Instructional Designer will partner closely with teams across SPS—including Program Management and Learner Solutions—to advance digital learning initiatives and deliver transformative academic experiences.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Extensive experience leading major online and digital learning projects.
- Advanced expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and academic technology.
- An advanced degree in instructional design, education, or a related teaching field.
- Higher education teaching experience and a deep understanding of faculty needs.
- Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to guide multi-stakeholder, large-scale course redesign efforts.
This is a senior role that engages with stakeholders across all levels of the institution. The work involves shaping the design and redesign of learning environments and instructional systems, advancing new pedagogical approaches, and supporting a culture of teaching excellence.
