Job Description

Performs venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe, and butterfly techniques; capillary punctures using heel and finger stick techniques on patients Collects, identifies, labels, and processes specimens according to protocol  Instructs patients on urine collection procedures and allocates urine specimens  Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products Cleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work area and ensures preventive maintenance is performed on all equipment and monitors Maintains knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for specimen collection, and complies with laboratory ordering and billing compliance  Enters laboratory data accurately into the computer system and responds timely to abnormal and panic values Distributes laboratory reports Monitors biohazard waste   Adheres to patient confidentiality policy  Adheres to the organization and governmental standards, rules, and regulations Prioritizes workload to efficiently provide Providers with the information necessary Performs clerical duties Promotes good customer service and demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette Performs all other duties as assigned
