Job Description

Position Summary

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and efficient operation of production equipment. This role supports daily manufacturing activities, reduces equipment downtime, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform corrective maintenance on production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

    Diagnose and resolve equipment failures quickly to minimize downtime.

    Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment issues.

     

  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and inspections.

    Identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.

    Support predictive maintenance programs such as vibration analysis and thermal inspections.

     

  • Equipment Installation & Upgrades
  • Assist with installation, setup, and testing of new machines or production lines.

    Support equipment modifications, improvements, and retrofits.

    Work with engineers and vendors during commissioning projects.

     

  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs in the CMMS system.

    Document repairs, part usage, equipment conditions, and PM completion.

    Report critical issues to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly.

     

  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow OSHA, NEC, and company safety policies at all times.

    Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) before servicing equipment.

    Ensure all machinery is restored to safe operating condition after repairs.

     

  • Spare Parts & Tool Management
  • Identify spare parts needs and communicate inventory shortages.

    Properly maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance workspace.

     

  • Cross-Functional Support
  • Work closely with production operators to address equipment concerns.

    Collaborate with mechanical and electrical technicians on complex repairs.

    Support quality and engineering teams when equipment impacts product quality.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

    Technical training in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance preferred.

     

    Experience

    2–4 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

    Experience with automated or continuous production equipment is a plus.

    Mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience strongly preferred.

     

    Skills

    Solid mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

    Ability to read mechanical drawings and basic electrical schematics.

    Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, bearings, and motors.

    Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

    Familiarity with CMMS systems and basic computer skills.

    Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and LOTO procedures.

     

    Work Environment

    Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial equipment.

    Shift work, weekend shifts, or overtime may be required.

     

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and access tight equipment spaces.

    Comfortable performing hands-on work throughout the shift.
