Monarch NC—known for high-quality, trauma-informed support for individuals with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities—is seeking a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in Charlotte.
What You’ll Do
As a Peer Support Specialist on our ACT team, you will play a vital, collaborative role by:
- Providing individualized, community-based support that encourages self-determination, confidence, and independent decision-making.
- Using your lived experience to promote a person-centered perspective within the team and ensure each individual’s preferences and voice are respected.
- Participating in comprehensive assessments, offering insight into areas such as:
- Psychiatric history
- Mental status
- Physical and dental health
- Substance use patterns
- Education, employment, and social functioning
- Daily living skills
- Family and natural supports
- Delivering direct support in office and community settings through individual, group, and family interactions.
- Assisting individuals with developing strategies to navigate stressors, strengthen coping skills, and progress toward their personal goals.
- Modeling recovery-oriented principles, self-advocacy, wellness strategies, and community integration.
What You Need to Qualify
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification
- Lived experience and a personal recovery story related to mental health or substance use
- Experience working with adults with mental health and/or substance use needs is preferred
