Profile of the Organization:
The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the economic growth and business development of Mint Hill, North Carolina. Description of the Internship:
The Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce internship provides an immersive learning experience designed to expose students to key aspects of nonprofit management, business advocacy, and community development. Interns will work closely with Chamber leadership, gaining hands-on experience in event planning, membership engagement, marketing, data management, and public relations. Responsibilities may include assisting with social media campaigns, coordinating business networking events, supporting legislative and economic development initiatives, and performing research on business trends. Interns will also have the opportunity to interact with local business owners, attend Chamber events, and contribute to the execution of strategic initiatives that support small businesses and workforce development.
This internship is structured to provide a well-rounded experience, ensuring interns develop essential professional skills such as leadership, communication, project management, and critical thinking. By the end of the program, students will have a deep understanding of how a Chamber of Commerce operates and its impact on local businesses and the community.
Location of Internship The internship is an in-person opportunity based at the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce office: Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce 7900 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd, Bldg. 2, Suite B Mint Hill, NC 28227
The in-person format is essential to ensure that interns fully engage in hands-on activities, networking events, and Chamber functions. It allows students to build strong relationships with business leaders, gain real-world experience through direct community involvement, and participate in high-impact projects that require on-site collaboration.
Preferred Student Demographic and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this internship is a motivated undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in business administration, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, political science, or a related field. Preferred qualifications include:
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and social media platforms
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional setting
● Interest in Marketing, Communications, Data Science, Grant Research, Business Management, Workforce Development, Economic Development, Public Policy, or Community Engagement
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Willingness to learn and contribute to Chamber initiatives
Students who have prior volunteer or leadership experience in student organizations, community service, or business-related activities are encouraged to apply.
