Tax Preparation Internship

Mooresville Tax Service is seeking a Tax Preparation Intern to join our team for the 2027 tax season, starting January through April/May. This is a great opportunity for an accounting student or recent accounting graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional tax office and learn the tax preparation process from start to finish.

This is a full-time, in-person internship at our Mooresville office, located at 907 Brawley School Road Mooresville, NC 28117. Typical schedule Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime.

Responsibilities

• Enter client tax information into tax preparation software
• Assist with preparation of individual income tax returns
• Organize and review client tax documents, including W-2s, 1099s, brokerage statements, and other supporting documentation
• Verify data entry for accuracy and completeness
• Assist tax preparers with gathering missing information and preparing client files
• Scan, organize, and maintain electronic tax documents
• Assist with general tax-season administrative and accounting tasks as needed
• Gain exposure to individual and small-business tax returns

Prior tax preparation experience is not required, although any previous tax or accounting experience would be beneficial. Training will be provided to help the intern learn our tax preparation software, processes, and procedures.
