The Role:

Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a Sustainability Chemistry Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.

What You’ll Do:

• Evaluate biomass derived solvents as less hazardous alternatives to current petroleum-based solvents for polymeric membrane formulation.

• Functionalize biobased polymers for different applications.

• Identify new energy efficient ways to recycle Entegris large volume used solvents.

What We Seek:

• A third-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

• Graduate student pursuing a master's or PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.

• A good knowledge of Organic Chemistry and synthesis required

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

• Organic chemistry synthesis experience

• Good knowledge of polymer chemistry

• knowledge of polymer formulation will be nice to have but not necessary.

• Porous Membrane and Materials characterization experience

• Curiosity and excitement about Sustainable materials research and development

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:

• A third-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field

• Graduate student pursuing a master's or PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January 2025-June 2025
  • Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in a co-op program
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
