Job Description
Position Summary:
University Career Center's Peer Professionals have the responsibility of welcoming visitors to the UCC and promoting services of the UCC through engaging activities to include presenting to student organizations, critiquing student resumes in drop-in hour settings, conducting Career Meetups, assisting with job fairs, setting up outreach tables within high traffic areas around campus, and working on specific projects associated with career related activities. Presentations and campus outreach may be performed outside of the regular work hours from 9am-5pm due to the nature of when student meetings are typically held (evenings).
- Peer Pros work 12 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours. Peer Pros will schedule weekly office hours; Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm. We prefer candidates with primary availability from 10:00am-3:00pm to assist with drop-ins.
- We strongly prefer candidates that can make at least a 2-semester commitment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be an undergraduate
- Minimum GPA of 2.8
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements
- Positivity and willingness to greet and direct all visitors to the University Career Center
- Ability to deliver, with confidence, presentations to groups of 10+ students with professional presentation materials and resources, utilizing Prezi and PowerPoint
- Interest in developing knowledge and skills in resume writing techniques
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work effectively without supervision as well as reliability
- Interest in career-related issues and activities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Welcome UCC Visitors:
Peer Professionals will serve as the first point of contact for guests of the UCC. These visitors include, but are not limited to students, alumni, parents, employers and campus faculty. Peer Pros will assess the purpose of each guest’s visit and direct accordingly.
Resume & Cover Letter Critiques:
Peer Pros will meet with students (in person & virtually) during scheduled drop-in hours and resume critique sessions to provide feedback on resumes and cover letters.
Outreach Activities:
Peer Pros will interact with leaders from residence halls, student organizations, student societies, and any groups to present information on UCC services.
Peer Pros will work with student leaders and representatives to identify other kinds of programs and workshops consistent with services offered through the UCC.
Peer Pros will perform general outreach activities throughout the campus, distributing promotional flyers, and manning campus outreach tables.
Presentations and Meet-Ups
Peer Pros will facilitate presentations and Career Meetups to various classes and student groups on the topics of resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, LinkedIn profile creation and more.
Big Interview Assistance
Peer Pros will also assist in the review and grading of Big Interview assignments.
Expectations
- Peer Pros work 12 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours. Peer Pros will schedule weekly office hours; Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm. We prefer candidates with primary availability from 10:00am-4:00pm to assist with drop-ins.
- We strongly prefer candidates that can make at least a 2-semester commitment.
- Peer Pros joining us in the new academic year will have the option to participate in varying responsibilities such as marketing assistance, employer relations, outreach, and other to-be-defined efforts. More information will be provided upon interviewing/hiring.
