Financial Planning Intern

Carnegie Private Wealth

Internship
Closes on Sunday, May 17, 2026

Job Description

Carnegie's Summer 2027 Internship Program is the firm's primary entry point into a long-term career in wealth management. This is not a rotational or general-exposure internship. It is a purpose-built program designed to identify and develop the next generation of Carnegie advisors.

We plan to hire at least two of our four Summer 2027 interns into full-time Financial Planning Analyst roles beginning Summer 2028, with Carnegie's Financial Planning Analyst role serving as the first step on our advisor career path that leads to Associate Wealth Advisor, Wealth Advisor, Senior Wealth Advisor, and, for those who earn it, Partner.

Interns work alongside our Associate Wealth Advisors and Financial Planning Analysts, gaining hands-on exposure to the full scope of how a modern, planning-first wealth management firm actually operates — from client plan construction to investment research to the tax and estate planning conversations that define relationships with sophisticated families.

Program Details

• Location: In-person at Carnegie's SouthPark office in Charlotte, NC (Towers at SouthPark, 6100 Fairview)
• Duration: 9 weeks, June 7th through August 6th, 2027
• Cohort Size: Four interns
• Compensation: $27 per hour
• Program Oversight: Carnegie's Chief Planning Officer, the firm's cross-firm planning leader and the senior professional responsible for advisor development

What You Will Do

Interns are meaningfully integrated into the work of the firm. Summer assignments are structured to build the technical foundation and professional instincts required of a Financial Planning Analyst, while giving interns real exposure to clients, advisors, and the internal workings of a growing firm.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Supporting advisors with the preparation of client meeting materials, financial plan inputs, and follow-up documentation
• Learning Carnegie's planning technology stack — including RightCapital (financial planning), Black Diamond (reporting), Holistiplan (tax planning), and Wealthbox (CRM)
• Observing client review meetings, prospect meetings, and internal case discussions
• Contributing to investment research and analysis projects under the direction of our Director of Investments
