Piedmont School of Music & Dance is looking for a dependable, student-centered Piano & Voice Instructor to join our music faculty and teach a consistent weekly schedule of private students.

This is a great fit for an instructor who enjoys building long-term relationships with students, helping families see steady progress, and teaching in a supportive studio environment with clear systems already in place.

At PSMD, we are not looking for casual, one-off teaching. We are building a strong, structured music program where students grow over time, families feel supported, and teachers have the tools they need to succeed.

About the Role

You will teach weekly private lessons in both piano and voice to students of varying ages, levels, and goals. Lessons are recurring each week, allowing you to develop meaningful student relationships and guide consistent musical progress.

Our ideal instructor is professional, reliable, encouraging, and organized. You should be comfortable teaching both disciplines, communicating clearly with families, and helping students prepare for recitals, performances, and personal milestones.

What You’ll DoTeach Engaging Private Lessons

• Teach one-on-one piano and voice lessons each week
• Adapt instruction to each student’s age, level, goals, and learning style
• Teach piano fundamentals including note reading, rhythm, technique, and musicianship
• Teach vocal fundamentals including breath support, tone, diction, pitch, and healthy technique
• Create lessons that are structured, positive, and developmentally appropriate

Support Long-Term Student Growth

• Help students build confidence, consistency, and musical skill over time
• Prepare students for recitals and performance opportunities
• Keep students engaged from week to week through clear goals and thoughtful instruction
• Maintain a high-quality lesson experience that families can trust

Communicate Professionally

• Provide lesson updates to families through Opus
• Communicate clearly about progress, expectations, attendance, and preparation
• Handle schedule-related matters, absences, and parent questions professionally
• Partner with the studio team to create a smooth experience for students and families

Contribute to a Positive Studio Culture

• Create a focused, encouraging, and respectful lesson environment
• Address student behavior or engagement issues calmly and directly
• Work within an organized program with clear expectations and support
• Be part of a team that values consistency, professionalism, and student success

What We’re Looking ForRequired

• Ability to confidently teach both piano and voice
• Prior private lesson teaching experience
• Reliable weekly availability during program hours
• Strong communication skills
• Professionalism with students, families, and staff
• A genuine interest in long-term student development

Preferred, But Not Required

• Music degree or formal vocal training
• Experience teaching multiple age groups
• Experience preparing students for recitals, auditions, or performances
• Familiarity with structured lesson planning or studio systems

Schedule

Lessons are scheduled during the following program hours:

Monday–Friday: 3:00 PM–8:00 PM
Occasional Saturdays: 9:00 AM–2:00 PM

A consistent weekly schedule is expected. Student assignments are recurring, not drop-in based.

Compensation

Starting at $32 per hour, based on experience.
