Job Description
The After-School Literacy Tutor will support students in improving their reading and writing skills in a structured, engaging environment. This position involves working one-on-one and in small groups to provide targeted instruction and encouragement to help students achieve their literacy goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Deliver personalized literacy instruction tailored to the individual needs of each student, focusing on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and writing skills.
- Assessment: Assess students’ literacy levels and progress regularly, using a variety of tools and strategies to measure growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Support: Provide additional support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and teachers regarding progress and areas for improvement.
- Reporting: Document student progress and participate in meetings to discuss student outcomes and instructional strategies.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other tutors, staff, and volunteers to create a cohesive after-school program that enhances literacy development.
Working Conditions:
- Part-time hours, typically after school, with potential for evening or weekend events.
