Peoples Private Learning’s Mission:
Peoples Private Learning (PPL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to providing essential Math and ELA support to K-12 students in Charlotte and surrounding areas. Our focus is on students from marginalized backgrounds who face barriers to academic success. Since 2020, we have prioritized addressing the academic decline worsened by Covid-19, particularly evident in the 84% of Black and Hispanic students
in Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District who are not college and career-ready, impacting approximately 76,700 students. Our mission is to ensure these students graduate with a strong academic foundation, enabling upward mobility and success in a competitive world.


Your Role:
You will be at the heart of our organization's communication efforts, ensuring that our mission resonates strongly with our stakeholders. You will be one of the voices of PPL, confidently articulating our goals and aspirations both verbally and through written communication. Your role will be instrumental in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including school and community partners, past and future donors,
and potential sponsors. Through your interactions, you will not only share the vision for our organization's future in Fiscal Year 2025 but also inspire others to join us on this journey of impact and change.


Responsibilities:
Initiate and maintain communications with stakeholders
Track communications and maintain records
Assist in completing sponsorship forms and documents
Share personal and organizational stories effectively
Schedule and coordinate meetings for the Executive Director
Communicate effectively, in-person, email, phone, and Zoom
Prepare for public speaking engagements
Reflect on weekly activities to enhance impact
Analyze the vision and identify key connections for its realization


Skills Required:
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
Organizational and time management skills
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in email, phone, and video communication
Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges

Projects:
During this internship, you will primarily engage in the development of the following projects:
PPL Rise Intensive Academic Support Program: This program is scheduled for the 2024/2025 academic
school year and focuses on providing intensive academic support to students.
People In Purpose Picnic: Taking place in Summer 2024, this event is a brunch benefit organized by
People In Purpose, aimed at supporting our mission and initiatives.
Location: Hybrid Internship (80% virtual office / 20% in person). Some community events and in-person
meetings will be required, with locations varying based on stakeholders or event location.


Duration of Internship and Hours: June 3, 2024 - August 9, 2024. Monday through Friday (6 hours per day), with occasional weekend/evening events.


Technology: Technology will not be provided.
