Environmental Field Service Engineer (Contract to Hire)
Location: On-site in Tobaccoville, NC, with travel to TN, NC, SC after training
Willing to train recent graduates interested in the field.
Must be able to participate in training in Massachusetts
Pay: $38-$40 per hour DOE
Responsibilities of the Environmental Field Service Engineer:
- Commission, start up, and operate company pilot and full-scale systems, as well as maintain and modify field and in-house pilot units.
- Collaborate closely with the Process/Applications Engineering team during the design, engineering, construction, and startup phases to ensure that installations meet customer needs.
- Troubleshoot and inspect existing equipment, provide on-site training for operating, maintenance, and management teams, and assess existing process systems for capacity and reliability improvements.
- Commission pilot equipment and resolve issues related to mechanical, electrical, PLC programming, and customer management.
- Document process changes and produce timely, detailed service reports.
- Play a key role in future product developments and designs, helping to move ideas quickly from concept to reality.
- Extensive travel is expected, including short-notice travel as needed. Candidates must be flexible with work shifts and adaptable to changing schedules. (once hired on permanently)
Qualifications of the Environmental Field Service Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, sanitary, or mechanical engineering with a strong understanding of water and wastewater processes and chemistry, OR
- 2-4 years of field service experience, including commissioning water/wastewater treatment systems and piloting experience, specifically with recent experience in pressurized UF/MF, MBR, and/or RO systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HMI/PLC systems.
- Independent, self-motivated individuals who can troubleshoot creatively and calmly in the field.
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong organizational and planning skills in fast-paced environments.
- A creative mindset with the ability to suggest improvements.
