Langan is seeking a Land Survey Intern or Co-op to join its collaborative team in Charlotte, NC. This individual will aid in the extraction of LiDAR surveys and the preparation of survey maps and CAD files. In this role, you will gain exposure to a variety of progressive technologies as you work directly with an experienced and dynamic team of survey professionals and interact with technical specialists in other disciplines. This position will be primarily office-based with opportunities to conduct both traditional and laser scanning field work when possible.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the survey team in the extraction of LiDAR point clouds using MicroStation and TopoDOT software;
• Prepare AutoCAD Civil 3D Surfaces based on extracted information;
• Gain exposure to mobile scanning and UAV technologies, including field collection;
• Prepare technical reports, survey plans and layout plans for projects such as utility construction, road and parking layout, and site improvements;
• Assist with office tasks including, but not limited to, CAD drafting, data download, deed and map research, and filing;
• Maintain survey equipment and initiate repairs when necessary;
• Remain current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best practices; attend internal training to expand knowledge and skills; and
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a four year degree in Survey, Geomatics, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or GIS;
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred;
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
• Ability to perform field work;
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD; knowledge of MicroStation, TopoDOT, and ArcGIS is desired; and
• Reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
