Job Description

  • STAFF SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT: Residence Education Coordinators are responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and development for the staff within their area. These responsibilities include selecting, training, and supervising the staff in their building/area; assisting in planning and conducting departmental training prior to each semester; providing for each Resident Advisor’s individual development through periodic performance reviews; facilitating ongoing team building and staff development opportunities.
  • RESIDENTIAL EDUCATION: The Residence Education Coordinators are responsible for implementing the departmental residential curriculum focusing on our five priorities: academic success, wellness, intercultural competence, life skills, and community responsibility. Responsibilities include creating a fall and spring semester educational plan which includes a variety of sequenced strategies; submitting assessment findings and making meaning of data for future residential curriculum planning purposes; working with community staff and student leaders to implement a variety of strategies to educate students within the five educational priority areas; and following up on data provided within the RA-resident intentional one-on-one interactions.
  • LEADERSHIP, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, AND DEPARTMENTAL ENGAGEMENT: Residence Education Coordinators support student leadership, community building, and campus-wide initiatives. They recruit and advise hall councils, offer leadership development opportunities, and integrate hall council efforts into the residential curriculum. Coordinators foster strong residential communities by partnering with RAs on connection-building activities, engaging personally with residents, providing informal counseling and referrals, and coordinating responses to roommate or student concerns. They also contribute to departmental and university efforts by serving on committees, supporting Orientation and Explore programs, assisting with divisional projects, and potentially co-advising RSA or NRHH, as well as helping plan campus-wide educational and social events
  • STUDENT CONDUCT: Residence Education Coordinators are responsible for the student conduct process in their building/area. These responsibilities include managing student conduct cases; referring cases to the University’s student conduct system in a timely fashion.
  • CRISIS MANAGEMENT: Residence Education Coordinators are responsible for the management and referral of incidents that occur in their building/area. These responsibilities include participating in year-round duty rotation to provide support to the residential population; working closely with the Counseling Center and Police and Public Safety; maintaining awareness of campus and community resources.
  • SUMMER OPERATIONS: Residence Education Coordinators are responsible for the summer activities in their building/area and will also help with other buildings and functions as needed. These responsibilities include coordinating a variety of conference services with direction from the Associate Director for Guest Operations; coordinating summer school housing with direction of an Assistant Director; working on departmental committees and projects assigned by Residence Life leadership (RA Training, REC/GHA Orientation & Training, etc.).
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Residence Education Coordinators are responsible for other responsibilities as directed by their supervisor and/or other Residence Life Leadership Team or Central Staff members.
