Job Description

We are seeking two motivated interns for a 6-week paid forestry and land stewardship internship on a private property in Burnsville, NC. This is a hands-on outdoor position focused on trail work, forest maintenance, and land improvement projects in a mountain environment.

Interns will work directly with on-site supervision and gain practical experience in trail clearing, path construction, material processing, and general forestry fieldwork.

Internship Details

  • Duration: 6 weeks
  • Start Date: June 1, 2026 (flexible)
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Pay: $14/hour
  • Housing: Provided on-site
  • Openings: 2 positions available

Responsibilities

  • Clear and maintain trails
  • Build and improve walking paths
  • Process and shred natural materials
  • Assist with general land stewardship projects
  • Work safely with outdoor tools and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications

  • Interest in forestry, conservation, outdoor recreation, or land management
  • Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Reliable, motivated, and willing to learn
  • Comfortable working in a rural mountain environment
  • Experience with outdoor tools or trail work is helpful but not required
