The Internship
Are you a creative thinker who enjoys storytelling, content creation, design, and using digital media to influence and connect with others? Join the Career Center as a Content Creation & Marketing Intern and play a key role in helping students engage with career services and the SECU Summer Internship Program in meaningful ways. You’ll gain hands-on experience producing content across a variety of platforms, while building your professional portfolio.
About the Internship
This internship is part of the SECU Summer Internship Program and offers up to 29 hours/week with a flexible schedule. You'll collaborate with the Employer Engagement + Marketing/Communications teams to create strategic, mostly student-facing content that promotes events, services, and career success stories, specifically focused on the 2026 cohort of SECU Summer Fellows.
What You'll Do
Develop original content for social media, blogs, email newsletters, video, and more
Write compelling, peer-relevant stories about student success and internship opportunities
Complete a final press release for publication in Niner media outlets
Design visual assets for digital and print (social graphics, flyers, posters, etc.)
Contribute to the weekly content calendar and social media strategy (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
Conduct student interviews and create content that highlights different voices and experiences
Assist with photography and short-form video creation (Reels, TikToks, interviews, event recaps)
Provide insight and ideas on how to best reach and engage students through content
Who We’re Looking For
Students in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related majors (open to all majors with relevant skills)
Strong writing skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with or willingness to learn Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
Experience with platforms like Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and email tools
Passion for storytelling and peer-to-peer communication
Comfortable working both independently and on a team
Bonus: Photography and video editing skills; knowledge of analytics tools

You’ll help shape the voice of the Career Center and help students understand the importance of experiential learning and the many programs offered to students through the Career Center. This internship is perfect for someone who wants to build real-world experience in content strategy, brand storytelling, and digital communications.
Learning Experience
By engaging in this experience made possible by the SECU Foundation, this intern will develop some of the top 8 career skills desired by employers. Through various CMS tools and design software, they will advance their technical skills. They will communicate with their cohort and develop content, both written and visual. The cohort model and storytelling allow this intern to engage with people of all cultural backgrounds and organizations with various meanings and purposes. With some of the independent work and decision-making requirements, this student should focus on critical thinking and expand their ability to work on their own. Various professional development opportunities will be provided.
