About the Internship
This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with several divisions of the Department, including Portfolio Management, Cash Management, Debt, Credit, Collections, and Accounts Receivable. The intern will assist in managing daily cash flow, learn fundamental credit-analysis skills, help with daily trade settlements, monitor cash balances to ensure funds are invested appropriately, support accounts-receivable operations, and contribute to debt issuance activities. This role provides a comprehensive view of how the Department functions and how each division supports the agency mission.
Responsibilities

Help build out and update the credit rating analysis of our Repurchase Agreement Counterparties by maintaining the database, updating financial information, researching Liquidity Ratios, and participating in conference calls with Brokers

Daily/monthly reconciliation with custody bank to ensure all transactions are captured correctly

Reconcile Cash Management daily tracking of money flows by updating cashflow database.

Work with the accounts receivable division to automate and improve reporting functions

Involvement with the new issuance process in the debt division and required compliance reporting
Minimum Qualifications
-
Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship

Major in Finance, Economics, or Accounting or related discipline

Entry level classes in Accounting and Finance
Desired Qualifications

Rising sophomore, junior, or senior

Knows how to calculate the time value of money

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products

Knowledge of SAP Software System
Internship Details

The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026

The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026

This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
