About Robrik Foundry

Robrik Foundry is a creative learning studio and specialty brick destination in Charlotte, North Carolina. We help children develop creativity, confidence, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication through hands-on experiences in engineering, robotics, storytelling, creative writing, and stop-motion animation.

Our signature Robrik Creator Journey™ follows a simple progression: Build → Write → Film. Rather than asking every child to create the same project, our instructors guide students in developing ideas based on their own imagination, interests, and vision.

Position Overview

Robrik Foundry is seeking energetic, patient, dependable, and creative instructors to guide children through hands-on learning experiences involving LEGO® building, engineering, robotics, storytelling, creative writing, and stop-motion animation.

Instructors will primarily support afternoon, evening, and weekend programs. Instructors may also assist with curriculum preparation, school partnerships, camps, trial classes, parent communication, facility operations, and special events.

This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. Our instructors help children develop and complete projects based on their own ideas and imagination. The instructor’s role is to encourage creativity, provide structure, teach technical and communication skills, and help students build confidence through exploration and hands-on learning.

Compensation

• Full-time positions: $56,000–$66,000 annually.
• Final compensation will be based on education, teaching experience, classroom-management ability, technical skills, curriculum-development experience, and availability.
• Paid instructor training and opportunities for professional development may be provided.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in education, child development, engineering, STEM, arts, communications, animation, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience working with children between the ages of 6 and 13.
• Ability to manage groups of approximately 8–12 students.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
• Patient, encouraging, dependable, and comfortable working with children who have different learning styles and abilities.
• Ability to explain concepts in an age-appropriate, clear, and engaging manner.
• Comfortable learning and teaching hands-on building, basic engineering, storytelling, robotics, and stop-motion activities.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check and required child-safety training.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or former teacher, teaching assistant, substitute teacher, camp instructor, after-school instructor, homeschool educator, or education student.
• Experience teaching elementary or middle-school students.
• Experience with LEGO® Education, SPIKE™, robotics, engineering challenges, creative writing, filmmaking, animation, or maker-based learning.
• Familiarity with tablets, cameras, video-editing applications, and classroom technology.
• Experience supporting children with different abilities, personalities, and learning needs.
• Experience creating or adapting curriculum and lesson plans.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• North Carolina teaching license is valued but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Robrik Creator Journey™ classes and other creative-learning programs.
• Guide students through building, engineering, robotics, storytelling, creative writing, and stop-motion projects.
• Encourage students to develop their own ideas rather than simply copying a model or following a fixed solution.
• Provide age-appropriate instruction while allowing students to make creative choices.
• Prepare lesson materials, building supplies, activity stations, and classroom equipment before each session.
• Maintain a safe, positive, respectful, inclusive, and organized learning environment.
• Establish clear classroom expectations and manage student behavior professionally.
• Observe each child’s interests, participation, progress, strengths, and support needs.
• Encourage collaboration, communication, problem-solving, experimentation, and perseverance.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding student participation and progress.
• Support trial classes, camps, birthday programs, Creative Build Nights™, school programs, field trips, and community events.
• Safely maintain LEGO® materials, robotics equipment, tablets, cameras, and other classroom supplies.
• Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, inventory organization, and material preparation.
• Participate in instructor training, curriculum reviews, staff meetings, and program evaluations.
• Follow all Robrik Foundry safety, student-release, supervision, confidentiality, media-consent, and child-protection procedures.

Additional Full-Time Responsibilities

Full-time instructors may also be responsible for:

• Assisting with lesson planning, curriculum development, and program improvement.
• Preparing instructional materials for upcoming classes, camps, and school programs.
• Supporting school partnerships, community programs, field trips, and outreach activities.
• Training, mentoring, and supporting part-time instructors and classroom assistants.
• Maintaining student progress records and other program documentation.
• Assisting with parent orientations, trial classes, tours, and enrollment conversations.
• Supporting birthday parties, Creative Build Nights™, special events, and community programs.
• Helping maintain an organized, welcoming, safe, and creative studio environment.
• Assisting with classroom scheduling, equipment management, material inventory, and facility readiness.
• Supporting other operational needs based on program enrollment and business requirements.

Scheduling and Availability

• Candidates must have reliable and consistent availability based on their agreed work schedule.
• Regular program hours may include weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as Saturdays and Sundays.
• Occasional availability may be required for school-break camps, summer camps, community programs, birthday parties, staff training, field trips, and special events.
• Part-time schedules may vary based on class enrollment, seasonal programs, and business needs.
• Full-time candidates should have flexibility to support classes, curriculum preparation, parent communication, school partnerships, camps, events, and facility operations.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, and dependable attendance are required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move around the classroom for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, organize materials, and assist children at activity tables.
• Ability to lift and carry containers, supplies, or equipment weighing approximately 20–25 pounds.
• Ability to assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and movement of instructional materials and equipment.
• Ability to actively supervise children throughout classes, camps, and events.
