Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Conducting research and preparing materials; preparing documents and files; entering/updating information in various formats and systems

- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Gathers and compiles information.
- Prepares and presents reports and data.
- Produces a variety of documents, as maps, policies, procedures, programs, etc.
- Assists in the maintenance of information.
- Updates current information in existing formats and data systems.
- Attends and observes meetings.
- Meets with assigned mentor monthly or as requested.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Human Resources Department Duties:
The Human Resources internship offers hands-on experience.

HR Intern Duties
- Assist New Employees
- Prepare welcome materials, collect documents, and assist with orientation
- Keep Records Organized
- Update employee files, enter data into HR systems, and File paperwork
- Support Training and Recruitment
- Track who attends and help with materials. Attend recruitment fairs and events
- General Office Help
- Reception duties, answer phones calls and emails, and print/copy/file documents.
HR Health & Wellness Intern Duties:
- Developing and implementing programs that enhance overall employee wellness.
- Administering, monitoring, and evaluating county-wide wellness initiatives.
- Will assist with internal communications related to wellness initiatives.
- Performs other tasks as required
Library Systems Department Duties:
The Library Systems internship offers hands-on experience.
- Help with Outreach

ITS Department Duties:
The ITS internship offers hands-on experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices in the area of work or assignment; knowledge of research techniques relevant to the area of work; knowledge of data collection methods and techniques; knowledge of the equipment used in the area of work or assignment; proficiency in basic computer skills; ability to research and organize facts and present them in a simple and clearly written form; ability to prepare written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be a recent graduate or currently attending an accredited college, university, law school, community college or technical institute.
- Applicants must carry a 2.5 or greater overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants must be willing and able to work for the entire internship assignment period.
- Applicants must be able to provide legal proof of identity and work authorization within three working days of employment.
- Recent graduates are defined as completing all requirements for an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two (2) years.
In addition to gaining practical workplace skills and experience in a variety of professional areas, interns are effectively introduced to career options with Cabarrus County Government. Cabarrus County Government does not guarantee job place at the end of the internship term. We do encourage and welcome interns to apply to available positions with Cabarrus County Government at the end of their internship.
