 Leadership Mentor (POSITION) 

(START DATE SEPTEMBER 2026/END DATE JUNE 2027)

ABOUT THE BOYS’ ROOM 

The Boys’ Room (TBR) is a mission-aligned leadership initiative dedicated to cultivating self-expression and social-emotional agency among underrepresented boys within academically rigorous school environments. Our mission is to provide a dedicated space for mentorship and peer support during pivotal developmental years. By centering the lived experiences of our students, TBR aims to strengthen academic persistence, social confidence, and the capacity for critical thinking. We are committed to building a foundation where every boy feels empowered to lead with authenticity and purpose. 

THE ROLE 

We are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Leadership Mentor for the September 2026 through June 2027 academic year. The ideal candidate is a high-energy facilitator who understands the unique culture of academically rigorous schools and possesses the lived experience necessary to authentically relate to and advocate for underrepresented students. As a key member of the program team, you will ensure the quality and integrity of all activities, working collaboratively to foster the personal and leadership development of every participant. 

SUPPORT & SUPERVISION 

The Program Instructor reports directly to the Founder, Cindy McField-Asamoah and the Program Manager. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

Program Delivery: Collaborate with the Founder and Program Manager on all weekly, in-person programming.• Facilitation: Implement and facilitate daily activities that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and designed to stimulate student growth.• Student Safety & Culture: Ensure the well-being of all participants by upholding community agreements, program norms, and appropriate behavioral standards.• Communication: Review and effectively communicate instructional materials and activity goals to participants.• Operations: Maintain daily attendance records and assist with program outreach or marketing initiatives as needed.• Strategy: Participate in recruitment and retention strategies designed by leadership to grow the TBR community.• Best Practices: Consistently utilize developmentally appropriate practices and evidence-based mentorship methods. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

Previous experience navigating or working within an academically rigorous school environment. 

Mentorship Background: Proven experience mentoring adolescent boys in a group or individual setting.• Professionalism: A strong work ethic characterized by punctuality, reliability, and excellent organizational skills.• Communication: Strong public speaking skills and the ability to engage a room of young men with confidence.• Adaptability: Ability to upgrade skills and pivot strategies to meet changing job conditions or student needs.• Capacity: Mentally and physically capable of leading and caring for children in a group setting.• Commitment: A demonstrated passion for supporting underrepresented boys and a desire to work as a cohesive team member.
